the beginning

My name is Minook, but nearly everyone in my life knows me as Scott. I am a Korean adoptee born in Jecheon, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve always known I was adopted, but the paperwork I’ve kept only has a one-paragraph description of my mother, and her name had been blacked out from the form.

I’ve always been curious to learn more about my mother, and this part of my identity, and fortunately in 2023, my work in the military took me to South Korea. During my time here I’ve began investigating more about my mother, and exploring the region that I was born in.

I’m making this webpage as a sort of journal to catalog the journey, but I hope that if you’re reading this you may find some connection to the process of self-discovery, or just learn about one adoptees reconnection with his culture.
