returning to jecheon
Apparently I was born here. My mother was from a city called Wonju, but traveled South to Jecheon to deliver me. It’s a scenic and quiet city built around the Cheongpung Lake. It’s very rural but very alive. We saw plenty of people walking around the lake, fathers and sons riding their bikes, people picnicking and live music. We had visited in the Spring, right as the weather became enjoyable outside.
Jecheon is colloquially known as the “healing city”, and much of that may have to do with the peaceful, community atmosphere.
Seeing this place for the “first time”, I felt spoiled in a way. I have definetly over-romanticized my sense of getting to call this place my home. This was my first look into what life could have been like if I had grown up here, or what life was like when I was born, and I was soaking in as much as I could.

I’ll definitely come back, I want to see as much of this town as I can. My time in Korea is about halfway up, and I don’t want to miss out on any opportunities while I’m here.
