just showing up

In early 2024, I finally made contact with ESWS. I had just looked their address up online, and Apryl and I hopped on a train to just show up unannounced. We walked in the building, found the most appropriate sounding office in the directory and just walked upstairs.

There was no one in the waiting/reception area so we poked around a couple offices until someone noticed us and came to help. Her name was Ms. Kim. She let us know that she could schedule us an appointment in the near future, and that in the meantime they would begin looking into my case. She had asked if I had sent a formal inquiry to them, and I mentioned the email I had previously sent. Like no time had passed, she said, “Oh I see your email”, and that’s all it took to start this process again.
